Key points taken from Mayor Adanech Abebe's housing development review Mayor Adanech Abebe attended 5 construction sites out of 100,000 housing development projects and reviewed the entire construction process. Some of the key messages he conveyed after reviewing the entire construction process: • Many infrastructures, including housing development, are being built in Addis Ababa. • The housing development work is being done with 24/7 new work culture (Shift) with great attention. • Special attention is being paid to narrowing the wide gap between housing demand and supply in the city. • We have started the construction of 97 thousand houses out of the 100 thousand houses planned for 2018, among which: • 50 thousand houses will be built directly by the city's budget. • The rest are being built through public-private partnership (PPP). • Although it is only 7 months since their construction, most of the houses have reached the final concrete floor (Slab) level. • These projects, whose construction started in August, have changed the idea that "construction does not work in winter" and created a new work culture. • Without reducing the quality of the houses, by increasing the speed of construction and improving the designs, comfortable houses are being built. • The projects include children's playgrounds, sports fields and various common services that strengthen social interaction. • We are following a better system by correcting gaps that were seen during the construction of shared housing in the previous system. • Organizations that were unions yesterday have been promoted to become contractors today. More than 200,000 people have been created jobs so far. • We are sure that the houses to be built with the government budget will be completed this year; We are ensuring the quality of our promises to the residents. • In the last 5 years alone, more than 434,000 houses have been built and made available to the residents.
